Let’s Support Our Troops….FYI

Here is a great way to support our troops. I am sending my check of $60 to the Happy Hauler Towing and Recovery. The owner Gerry is a DAV and has committed to raise $3,000 to support our troops. If you can help please do. They will never be forgotten. Thank you for your support to our troops. GOD BLESS.

National Guard Armory, 63 Armory Rd
Stratford, CT 06614

The 242d Engineer Bn Assn and the Breakfast Club, whose members are all Connecticut Army National Guard Retirees, have been shipping packages and mass mailings of holiday cards to our deployed CT National Guard soldiers since Dec 07.
We have collected over $8,400 in donations and proceeds from monthly breakfast meetings. We’ve spent over $6,400 on shipping costs and material we’ve shipped out.
In addition to sending our Soldiers “Care Packages” of snacks and personal items we have supported them by providing items such as voltage converters, wireless telephones and monogrammed T-Shirts. We also have made donations to orphanages as well as the Family Readiness Groups which support our soldiers.
We have been supported by: Happy Hauler Towing and Recovery, Bolton Notch RV Storage, The Knights of Columbus; East Lyme, Lebanon, Bolton, Sterling and Parish Hill school systems; Coventry Police Union; 102d Infantry Regiment Association; IRS Federal Managers Association; Farmington Red Cross office; State Rep. Pam Sawyer, Lisa Siembab, Car Star in Berlin, Sue Berry, Country Family Herb Farm, Amanda Raus NBC 30, Kim Soper JI, The Miss Connecticut Pageant as well as individual members of the Association and the Breakfast Club.
With just under 1,000 of our soldiers deploying later in this year it’s more important than ever to let the public know our men and women are still being sent into harms way and they are not to be forgotten.
Donations are need to off set the cost of shipping. We get reports back from our units as to what the soldiers need. We then purchase goodies, soap, deodorant, toothpaste etc. which is sent to the 1SGT or Chaplin to disperse to the troops. Total cost is about $30.00 per box to each soldier. Your donation to our own here in CT will let the troops know they appreciated. We as volunteers will buy and ship to each unit as needed.
Make checks payable to the “242d Engineer Bn Assn.”
Thanks for your support.
Here is Gerry’s email to me:
See attach flyer please. My goal is $3,000 by Oct, 2012. Let’s make sure our CT soldiers have what they need and a very Merry Christmas. Cards from school kids are a big hit. Donations sent to me at address below or stop in to our business here in Bolton. Love to see ya. Please forward this along to others. Gerry
